Jon lives in Charlotte, North Carolina with his wife and teenage daughter. A native of North Carolina, Jon attended Davidson College, graduating in 1990 with a degree in anthropology. After a few years in the regular business world, Jon found himself becoming increasingly interested in the arts. In 1998 he took the plunge (against the recommendation of a well-meaning advisor) and began studying art at UNC Charlotte. It proved to be a very good decision.

He later earned a BFA at UNC Charlotte with a concentration in printmaking. Check out his blog here:

Jon TarletonMy art is heavily influenced by time spent in Southern California and the North Carolina mountains. Nature has become my primary source of imagery and inspiration for making art. This summer, I will be traveling with my family to one of the most beautiful spots in the world, Half Moon Bay in California. In the winter, I plan on returning to Palm Springs, a place I spent time at as a kid. I am looking forward to the joy of traveling, as well as to the artistic inspiration I will certainly find; there is no greater beauty than that which we see in the natural world, and that beauty is what drives me to keep making art.
